FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Does the person scanning need the app?+
No. The code opens a normal web page in whatever browser their phone uses. They type their number and tap call. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
How do you hide my number?+
The call is bridged. The stranger dials a ScanMe line, we ring you on a second leg, and we join the two. Neither leg ever learns the other number, so it cannot show up in a call log or be redialled.
Can somebody else claim my code?+
No. The first time you scan a code in the app it binds permanently to your account and your vehicle. Any later attempt to claim it is rejected, even by you on a second car.
What if the sticker peels off or gets stolen?+
Deactivate the code from the app and it stops resolving immediately. Write to us and we will send a replacement with a fresh code.
What stops people from spam-calling me?+
Every code and every caller is rate limited, and repeat callers hit a cooldown. If a number abuses your code you can report it and we block it from reaching you.
Will it survive a car wash?+
It is printed on outdoor-grade vinyl and mounts on the inside of the windscreen, so soap, sun and rain never touch the ink.
